When is the best time to perform Umrah?
Ramadan, winter, or the quiet weeks after Eid? A season-by-season guide to choosing the right time for your Umrah.
There is no single 'best' time for Umrah — only the time that best fits your priorities of reward, comfort, crowds and cost.
فَإِذَا كَانَ رَمَضَانُ اعْتَمِرِي فِيهِ فَإِنَّ عُمْرَةً فِي رَمَضَانَ حَجَّةٌ
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Perform ‘Umrah when Ramadan comes, for ‘Umrah in Ramadan is equal to Hajj (in reward),” or said something similar. (Narrated by Ibn ‘Abbas.)
حضرت ابنِ عباسؓ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: "جب رمضان آئے تو عمرہ ادا کرو، کیونکہ رمضان میں عمرہ کرنا ثواب کے اعتبار سے حج کے برابر ہے۔" یا ایک دوسری روایت کے الفاظ میں: "رمضان میں عمرہ کرنا میرے ساتھ حج کرنے کے برابر ہے۔" (صحیح بخاری، صحیح مسلم) نوٹ: اس کا مطلب یہ نہیں کہ رمضان کا عمرہ فرض حج کی جگہ لے لیتا ہے، بلکہ اس سے مراد ثواب اور اجر میں حج کے برابر ہونا ہے۔ فرض حج کی ادائیگی پھر بھی صاحبِ استطاعت مسلمان پر لازم رہتی ہے۔
Ramadan carries the greatest reward but the highest crowds and prices. December to February is the most comfortable weather. The weeks just after Eid, and the deep summer, are the quietest and best value for those who can bear the heat.
