What is Umrah?
Umrah is the sacred visit to the House of Allah in Makkah — often called the 'lesser pilgrimage'. Unlike Hajj, it can be performed at any time of year, and it is completed through four clear rites.
The four rites of Umrah
Umrah is performed by entering the state of Ihram, making Tawaf around the Kaaba, walking Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, and finally shaving or trimming the hair. Each rite carries deep meaning, drawn from the story of Prophet Ibrahim عليه السلام and his family.
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, “(The performance of) ‘Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed (between it and the previous one). And the reward of Hajj Mabrur (the one accepted by Allah) is nothing except Paradise.”

Common questions
- Can I apply for an Umrah visa myself from India?
As of 2025–2026, Indian passport holders cannot apply for an Umrah visa directly through Nusuk. You must travel with a Saudi-authorised, licensed Umrah agent who handles the Nusuk-compliant visa, accommodation and transport on your behalf. We are licensed and manage the entire process for you.
- What documents do I need?
A passport valid for at least six months, recent photographs, and any vaccination certificates required at the time of travel. We confirm the exact, up-to-date checklist for your group before booking.
- Is visiting Madinah part of Umrah?
No. Visiting Madinah and the Prophet's Mosque is highly virtuous ziyarat, but it is not one of the rites of Umrah. We include it in most itineraries because of its immense reward, while keeping the two clearly distinct.
- When is the best time to go?
It depends on your priorities. Ramadan carries the greatest reward (an Umrah in Ramadan equals a Hajj in reward) but is busiest and dearest; December–February is most comfortable; the weeks after Eid and the deep summer are quietest and best value.
